Doctor Damiano Costa has dedicated the last decade of his life to the study of the human body and to help people to improve their health.

My story...

I’ve always been interested in health, since I was young, especially when related to sports as I dedicated one third of my life to play waterpolo professionally.

While working as a physiotherapist, after I got my degree in 2010, I felt the urge to deepen my knowledge about the human body and I found in Chiropractic the ultimate answer. This profession got my needs met due to its unique approach to health and body function.

The path I chose to follow led me away from Italy for few years, in fact from 2011 to 2015 I moved to Madrid (Spain). There I did not find not just a profession, but a new way of life. A philosophy based on trusting and supporting the self-healing ability of the body naturally. To this day my motto is one of the most famous quotes from Dr Bartlet Joshua Palmer, the developer of chiropractic:

The power that made the body, heals the body. It happens no other way.”

During my last year of chiropractic studies I did an preceptorship with one of the most renowned chiropractors on the planet, Dr Jean Pierre Meersseman. For about two months I shadowed him in his clinics in Como, Milan and also Milanello, AC Milan training facility. I learnt his way of adjusting different types of patients such as elderly people, professional soccer players, athletes of all kind, kids and the list goes on. I’m very grateful to Dr Meersseman for the opportunity, I learnt tons and that allowed me to help more people ever more efficiently and effectively.

When I finished my studies in 2015, I got a job in a chiropractic clinic in Dublin (Ireland). There I took care of a lot of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts athletes, it was an unforgettable experience. In the meantime I got  involved in the biggest global chiropractic students’ association called the World Congress of Chiropractic Students (WCCS). I’ve had the honor and the pleasure of occupy the charges of Vice President (2015-16) and President (2016-17) of the association.

Belonging to such organization gave me the opportunity to discover how chiropractic functions at a global level. I also had the pleasure to represent the profession at health related gatherings across the planet. Being able to participate in events like the World Health Organisation Assembly was a game changer for me.

I learnt a lot about global healthcare and I was able to see the potential that chiropractic has to be a solution to many of the current global health crises. In fact chiropractic is a unique profession focused on helping people achieve optimal health and educating them on how to take responsibility for their health. I believe that chiropractic works because it helps people to become aware of the causes of their health problems and it support them along their body self-healing journey naturally. This would ease much of the strain on global health systems by reducing chronic lifestyle dis-ease.

Once my journey with WCCS and Dublin was over, in September 2017 I accepted a job offer in Naples at a multidisciplinary clinic with orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation physicians and physiotherapists. The 2 years I spent there were rich of nourishing moments, personally and professionally. I had the opportunity to help a lot of people and to experience on my skin the joys and hardships of living in the South of Italy. As many before me, I left a piece of my heart in Naples, I still adjust people there from time to time.

As of 2017 I also am a chiropractic training courses facilitator. Thanks to the experience gathered and to all the seminars I’ve attended (more that 10 per year since I started chiropractic school), I’ve been selected as one of the representatives of a movement called KAIROS TRAINING CULTURE that teaches chiropractic students and chiropractors how to use their bodies sustainably while serving people.

At the end of 2019 I felt the need to come back to Genova, my hometown. Nowadays that’s where I serve those who decided to grab their life by the horns and started to walk the path of healing.
